Our story began in 1929. My grandfather bought the property the store is on during the Great Depression. He was able to purchase it for an amazing price because the building was falling down and the roof was caving in. The property had previously been a mill farm. My grandfather decided to convert it from a mill into a store. He fixed the roof and the building using wood from trees from the property that he cut down himself.
My father eventually took over the business. He initially had planned to work in a funeral home, but ended up moving home to work the family business instead of doing the mandatory military service that was required in the 50s and 60s.
On April 1, 1999 (Also my parent's anniversary, we're no fools in this family!) I took the helm as the 3rd generation to own and operate Hurdle Mills Feed & Farm Supply. As a younger man, I had considered becoming a veterinarian or moving into the banking world, but it didn't take me long to realize that I would be a "fool" to go any other direction with my life!
Our family has a long-standing tradition in this community and it is my goal to continue that. We strive to provide outstanding customer service and to ensure that we have all your farm and feed supply needs covered.
